It's Friday again.......where does time go?
When I was younger (can I remember back that far????), anyway, when I was younger, time seemed to d-r-a-g. Took FOREVER for a week to pass, for the weekend to come, for birthdays and holidays to get here.......Everything took TIME. Now that I'm fast approaching 3/4 of a century (yikes), NOTHING is slow - except me. 24 hours in a day seem to zip so fast I cannot keep up with what I'm supposed to be doing, no time to work, rest, run, play, it all just flies by in a big rush.
Given all that, I have leads to braid, clients waiting, dogs to feed, laundry to do, a van to clean out so I can hopefully locate the floor. (And an earring I KNOW is there somewhere...........). God only knows what else I'll run across when I start digging. How does all that stuff get there??? And do I have the time to do all that today? Probably not....oh well. Maybe I'll get it all done, maybe not.....maybe I'll sit on the deck in the sun and contemplate doing it all. I'll take some "time" and think it over......then decide.
Speaking of the van, which happens to be a 2005 Safari Van, it set us back a serious dollar amount yesterday. The day before I was just about to pull into a parking spot at the mall and it just STOPPED. Period, Final, "ain't movin", "not starting". Push or pull there we were. Sitting like a stupid thing half in and half out of a parking slot. Did anyone offer to help as I was out of the van, steering with my right hand, pushing on the open door with my left and trying to at least get it out of the way of the cars that were already backing up? Nope....not even the old fart who was sitting on a bench about 25 feet away.....watching. Hey, he didn't even cheer when I got it pushed where I wanted it, and leaned against it, huffing and puffing.
He did however, "gallantly" puff up and offer to help the TOW TRUCK DRIVER push it OUT of the spot when he got there to hook us up. I could have happily slapped him. Off we went to the repair shop to be told what they were pretty sure the problem was. They were right. I called Enterprise, rented a car for a day or two and left the van in capable hands to nurse back to health. That "health" turned out to be exactly what they thought.....Fuel pump assembly that's electric, in the gas tank, and VERY EXPENSIVE Yikes. Also the Mass Air Flow sensor hit the graveyard as well. End result, including labor, was $16.00 shy of $1000.00.
But it's sure runnin' better. Thank God....... and Carls Auto Repair down in Longview, Washington. Good guys, one and all.
So then, I'd better get my fanny to braiding and produce some leads here in the next week, so the old checking account won't look so delapidated. Never ends, does it? Sigh........
Now THAT time.....waiting for the tow truck.....it D-R-U-G. And he was there in 15 minutes. Go figure.
Time is a funny thing sometimes. I guess it's all in how we perceive what's happening around and to us at that moment in our lives. In general, I still wish it didn't seem to fly by so quickly at this age. Looking back, it was more fun, w-a-i-t-i-n-g - and learning during that wait - than it is kinda watching it flit by and taking our lives with it in such a hurry.
Have a great day!!
