REALLY GOOD FEELINGS......

Sometimes.....just sometimes we're allowed to bask in REALLY Good feelings for something we've done right.

I have just those feelings and it's because we've placed a little 5mo old Toy Fox Terrier bitch puppy IN THE RIGHT HOME.....with THE RIGHT GAL....and it's a joy to watch them together.

This is the second of the two puppies in this litter to go JUST WHERE THEY WERE MEANT TO BE.  The boy, "Tangle", went up to Calgary with his new mom, Sheila Morgan....and he's giving her just so much joy and happiness.  A great match for sure!  She will love him, take him to dog shows, enjoy him as part of her family for years to come.

The other puppy, a girl...."Tanya".....I actually meant to keep here.  Things happen (as they do in life so often), and it turned out that she would be better if we placed her.  Pam Watson, from Fairbanks (pictured with Tanya), wanted her a couple months ago, but we waffled and didn't let her go.
When Keith and I made the final decision to allow Tanya to go, Pam and her hubby jumped at the offer.

She hopped a plane and flew down from Alaska to meet her new baby girl.  The first pic here was snapped just moments after they had first seen each other.  It was a good meeting.  My emotions were mixed and many.  Sad, happy, kinda lost, confused about how I felt.  I love these little dogs to the extreme and only want what's the very best for them...Always.  I felt that Pam was the best for Tanya, but I have raised her for nearly 5 months after actually pulling her into this world for her first breath.  So the lump in my throat was the result of many disorganized thoughts and feelings.  She NEEDED to go, I WANTED her to go, I LOVE her, I HAD to let her go for HER sake so she could fulfil herself as an incredibley talented and intelligent little dog....... BUT, because I loved her, I was attached to her.....I had been training her for show and wanted to see her fulfil that promise as well.....I couldn't do that if she was in ALASKA for crying out loud.

HOWEVER, moments after being with Pam in person and seeing how she was with Tanya....and how Tanya was with her.  It was mostly GOOD feelings that were washing over the huge lump still sitting at the back of my throat trying to cause tears to flow.  THEY WERE GOOD TOGETHER.  They would do fine.

Many times when a puppy is at the age of Tanya, it's difficult for them to allow strangers into their space. Not so with Pam and Tanya......it just worked.  We left her with Pam at the home of a friend where Pam was spending two days before flying back to Fairbanks.  If it didn't look like a good match, she would call and I would go pick the puppy up.  Well......what can I say?  Life is good for those two.

Last night Pam brought Tanya to the training class we go to here in Olympia, Washington, at the home of well-known Jeannine Harrington (Australian Terrier breeder of nearly 50 years).  Tanya has been to three classes at Jeannine's with me, but this was her first time ANYWHERE with Pam.  It was awesome.  She's working for Pam, giving her heart to her  and they are going to kick some serious bootie in the Alaska show rings.  Lovin' it.

I was busy with our own dog at class, but close to the end, grabbed my little silly Point and Shoot camera (which, naturally was on the wrong settings for the lighting and the building...wahhhhhh!) and tried to get a couple quick shots of this puppy and her new mom in their first training situation. Here's a pair of blurry samples of how they did.  IT WAS GOOD!!!

They're flying out for Fairbanks this evening and I will worry till I hear from her that they've arrived safely and they're both comfortably in the hands of Pam's hubby.  Then, of course, I'll wait for the reports to  come in letting me know how it's going.  I love this puppy.....and I'll not be able to just "let go" in an instant.  Sorry, can't do that.

What we as breeders allow or cause to come into this world, become a part of us for the life of that animal.  It's just the way it goes. We're the reason they're on this earth and we have a responsibility to them to remain connected to them....no matter what.  So it has to be.

As a breeder, and as a person who loves this breed, I am just sooooo proud of this little gal.  She didn't have a lot of structured classes, but she learned what she needed to know to move on and be the gorgeous show girl I know she will be.  She learned to accept strangers, to accept properly taught procedures, to allow love from good humans into her little heart.  She has great manners, fits well into society, has a VERY solid temperament and an intelligence that is just scarey.

Oh, did I forget to mention she is also drop dead gorgeous and conformationally amazing?
Well, yeah......  All of the above.

So Fly Safe Pam and Tanya.......
Go show Alaska what a Toy Fox Terrier is all about!!
