Happy Wednesday........don't know why, but what the heck....Happy Wednesday, anyway.
Went to Wenatchee KC dog shows in Wenatchee, Washington this past weekend. Fires on hills all over the country over there and even tho we all went, I think we were all pretty stupid to have done it. My chest is still hurting.....feels like I smoked 4 packs of cigarettes at an all night card party. (Been there, done that?) Here it is the following Wedneday and my chest is STILL tight and vey uncomfortable. I cannot imagine living over there.....just can't. Show was actually up in Cashmere, WA.....which is a lovely orchard/vineyard area and is quite lovely. When you can see up the hills to the orchards and vineyards, that is.
Smoke was horrible.....blurring out most everythng that wasn't pretty close to you. Reminded me of being up in the hills overlooking the Los Angeles basin on a crappy smog day. Kinda like stinky potato soup.
Oh, and then the Motel 6 where we had made reservations, decided to arbitrarily add on a PER NIGHT pet fee. I have complained, trust me. Only the Motel 6 STUDIO 6 facilities are advertised to charge pet fees. But this particular one in Wenatchee does it anyway....and they are NOT a Studio 6 facility. Trust me on that, too.
Pet potty areas were non existant....had to potty dogs out by the streets on little strips of sand and grass by the sidewalk. Try that with BUSY traffic zooming by at all hours......and with a 15wk old puppy who had never SEEN streets and cars, etc. It was doable, but not GUEST FRIENDLY at all. They advertised that they were freshy remodled......32" flat screen TV was the big item according to them. Well, whoopie. I would have rather not paid a pet fee and had potty areas.....but then that's just me. WILL NOT USE MOTEL 6 AGAIN. The one in Moses Lake was awful, but this one wasn't a whole lot better.
Onward and upward. Rowdy surprised us all by going WD/BOW for a 3pt major at Wenatchee KC under lovely Judge Pamela Peat. (Pics to come) Next day, he fell apart for whatever reason he has in his little head, and got dumped. Class was won by Sheila Morgan and her lovely little Jamie from Canada (our breeding). Pamela Peat commented on the fact that Rowdy is the "old style" TFT and she loves that. Guess some other judges do as well, because this little guy now has 9 AKC points with both majors. Amazes me. Happily, but it's such a shock that he does what he does sometimes. Mostly, I see a little guy with issues. When he's in the ring now and then, tho....he shows his little self off and others see what I don't have the chance to see......and he wins. And then my mouth drops open. <lolol>
However Jaz did good. BOB on Saturday under Pamela Peat (Pics to come) and Select on Sunday under Judge Colin Hamilton. That gave him 6 points for the weekend toward his Grand Championship....bringing him up to 17 points since we brought him out as a Special on the 11th of last month. He has his majors and has beaten the required number of champions (and then some), so now it's singles to get to the Grand.
All in all, even given the nasty smoke and fire smells, we all had a pretty good time. Had fun visiting with friends, exhibitors and a couple old friends who live in the area that came to the show to say hello.
Here's a kinda cute little candid of Rowdy and his new friend, Lucy sitting on top of the crates on Saturday. Lucy is going to be handled by Michelle Olive and is a cutie. Lucy wasn't entered, but was there to get used to the hubbub and all that goes with a dog show. She did great and was just calm and cool about the whole thing.
We delivered our 15wk old puppy, Tangle (aka: "Skylocke's Too Tuff To Tangle") to his new mom, Sheila Morgan ( https://www.facebook.com/#!/sheila.morgan1 ) and they instantly hit it off. They're back in Calgary and she tells me he has settled right in. We're looking forward to hearing and seeing REALLY good things about the two of them in the showrings. Here he is with our lovely Black and White ZARA, about 3 weeks or so ago. He is gorgeous....that's for sure.
His sister, Tanya (aka: "Skylocke's I'm A Tuffy Two") stayed home and terrorized the rest of those who didn't go along. She went with me last night for socialization at the area around our local handling class. She was a pain in the neck. She just doesn't have the temperament that her brother has, but we're workin' on gettin' her going. I'm sure she'll come around, but she is a typical bitch who thinks all things should be HER way. We'll get-er done.......I hope.
She is drop dead gorgeous tho......ain't no lying about that.
Y'all have a great day!!!!
